FIRST ANNUAL “CRUISE FOR A CAUSE” LABELED A SUCCESS
The Boys & Girls Club of Garfield, Hawthorne, Lodi & Hackensack, New Jersey, collaborated to create a unique partnership for an incredibly exciting party with a purpose called “Cruise for a Cause”. The Cruise for a Cause gala featured a grand evening on the Hudson with the backdrop of the famous New York City skyline aboard the Cornucopia Majesty yacht, recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the best yacht venue’s in the world.
Several-hundred supporters of the Boys & Girls Club filled the spacious 4-story yacht, converted to an Audience Pleasers casino where many guests gambled and socialized out on the upper deck overlooking the breath-taking skyline. The list of invited guests included the distinguished sponsors and a number of local politicians, including State Senator Bob Gordon, Wood-Ridge Mayor and State Senator Paul Sarlo, Wood-Ridge Municipal Administrator Chris Eilert, Lodi Municipal Manager Tony Luna, Lodi Deputy Mayor Marc Schrieks, Hackensack City Manager Stephen Lo Iacono and Garfield City Manager Tom Duch. Those who set sail with the cruise enjoyed an elegant buffet, cigar bar, premium open bar and cocktail hour, dancing, live entertainment and legal gambling as the recipe for the first annual casino fundraiser.
Audience Pleasers could be found on the second story of the yacht. Party guests received gaming chips and a raffle ticket upon entry and additional chips and tickets were available at the cashier’s booth. The casino tables offered a wide variety of poker, blackjack, roulette, craps and the big money wheel. Everyone had an opportunity to participate throughout the course of the evening, while networking with others aboard.
Speeches of the night were kept to a minimum with the board of trustees and professional staff thanking all for their consideration in supporting the organization’s first annual bazaar. All attendees were granted the exciting opportunity to be associated with one of America’s premier and most respected youth development organizations, the Boys & Girls Club.
The affair was a successful joint charity event, raising about $1,000 for each of the three clubs. The proceeds from the event will go into furthering youth programs for academics, healthy living, character and citizenship. Audience Pleasers is ecstatic to partner together again in the near future to create and achieve another exceptional night out.
