JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Fondant…Check. Flour…Check. Poker chips, dice, and a roulette wheel? Sounds like the makings of an amazing casino creation. Audience Pleasers participated in the 1st Annual ISES Cake-Off Kick-Off this past Wednesday evening at the Jersey City Financial Center.
In a room that was draped in pink fabric with the smell of sugar and icing in the air, bakers from all over northern New Jersey came to participate in the competition. “Best Tasting Cake” was won by Sabrina Kuratana of a cake dream LLC, and “Best Designed Cake” was taken home by Elena Shumskaya of The Fine Art of Cakes.Audience Pleasers was the only entry without a baking background, but that didn’t stop them from having fun! They came up with a 3 feet by 5 feet casino creation fit for Las Vegas, consumed with Rice Krispie Treat cake and fondant icing.
Dennis Telischak, President of Audience Pleasers, was beaming with pride of his casino creation complete with two Las Vegas showgirls to greet participants and give details about the cake
“Granted we are not bakers, but we wanted the opportunity to show what Audience Pleasers can do. One of the major aspects of our event planning agency is “Casino Night” and this is all an extension of what we can do. We go above and beyond for our customers,” said Telischak.
Rachael Shaffer, event coordinator, said, “I think this competition was fantastic in all aspects of how well an event can go. It brought designers, event coordinators, and bakers together while trying out new and different ways to be creative.”
